I returned back from Colorado a few days ago tired, dirty, with ache knees, swollen feet, and a ton of great memories. The trip was awesome, one of the best trips of my life. I have really learned how I want to best spend my time away from the 9-5 grind. In total we summited five new 14ers, picking up a total of 36.29 miles and a total gain of 13,255ft. Here is how the trip went down, by day:
- Wednesday August 7th – Drove from St. Charles to Colorado Springs
- Thursday August 8th – Light hike in Colorado Springs at Ute Valley Park
- Friday August 9th – Hiked the ditch trail to Capitol Lake
- Saturday August 10th – Hiked from Capitol Lake to K2 and then back to the car at ditch trail. Spoiler alert, Capitol was a bust.
- Sunday August 11th – Summited Mt. Elbert
- Monday August 12th – Rest day, drove to Kite Lake
- Tuesday August 13th – Democrat, Cameron, Lincoln, Bross
- Wednesday August 14th Drove from Parker back to St. Charles.
Trip reports from each summit to come!
